Does the F30 use CIC, NBT, or NBT EVO?
F30 launched in 2012 with NBT (replacing CIC). Mid-2016 LCI brought NBT EVO with a 6.5" or 8.8" display, faster CPU, touch input, and CarPlay support (2017+). Pre-LCI cars run NBT; post-LCI cars run NBT EVO. CIC is unusual in F30 — it appeared briefly in early 2012 production only.
Can I retrofit NBT EVO to a pre-LCI F30 with NBT?
Yes, but it's the most demanding F30 retrofit. You need the EVO head unit, the matching CID (6.5" or 8.8"), updated SZL steering-column controller, and full E-Sys VO coding. Most owners hire a BMW indie shop with E-Sys experience — expect 4–6 hours of coding work on top of the install.
Does the F30 head unit include Apple CarPlay?
Only NBT EVO from late 2016 onwards. Pre-2017 NBT EVO can be enabled with an FSC code (sold separately). NBT (pre-LCI F30) cannot run CarPlay — the hardware lacks the necessary CPU and software paths.
Do these parts fit BMW xDrive (AWD) models?
Most interior, infotainment, lighting, and bodywork parts are identical between RWD and xDrive variants of the same chassis. xDrive-specific differences are concentrated in the transmission tunnel, drivetrain, and ABS hardware. Listings explicitly call out drivetrain-specific fitment in the spec table.
