Pre-LCI F30: 6.5" standard, 8.8" with Navigation Professional. LCI F30 (2016+): 6.5" basic or 8.8" as standard with NBT EVO. A 10.25" CID was never an F30-factory option but is a popular retrofit using F32 or F15 hardware (requires coding and the LCI-spec dash bezel).
Can I install an 8.8" CID in a car that came with the 6.5"?
Yes, common F30 upgrade. You need: 8.8" CID, 8.8"-spec dash trim bezel, and BimmerCode or E-Sys to flip the variant flag from BSC to NAV in the head unit. Hardware-wise the LVDS connector and mounting are unchanged.
What's the difference between F30 and F31?
Same platform, different body. F30 is the 4-door sedan; F31 is the wagon (Touring). Nearly every interior part, electronics module, head unit, and amplifier interchanges between the two. Differences are mostly tailgate hardware, rear-cabin trim, and the load-floor assembly.
