About used BMW display screens

Central Information Displays (CIDs) come in 6.5", 8.8", and 10.25" across BMW's F- and G-chassis lineup. Hardware is mostly interchangeable thanks to a common LVDS port and standardized brackets — the difference is in coding. Each head unit reads a variant flag (BSC / NAV / NAV PRO) that dictates which screen size the firmware expects.

Every display we sell has been powered up, walked through the iDrive menu cycle, and inspected for dead pixels and backlight bleed at both full and minimum brightness. Anything visible under those conditions is graded down with photos of the defect.

Bigger isn't always plug-and-play. Going from 6.5" to 8.8" needs the matching dash trim bezel and a coding pass. Going from 8.8" to 10.25" on F-chassis often means sourcing the bezel from a higher-trim model and re-routing the harness. Listings note compatible chassis and what coding is expected.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about used BMW display screens

Will a 10.25" CID work in a car that came with the 6.5" screen?
Hardware-wise yes — the display port and mounting are standard across most F-chassis. The harder part is coding: the head unit needs the variant flag flipped from "BSC" (basic) to "NBT EVO" (premium), which BimmerCode or E-Sys handles. Without coding the screen may show a static error or blank.
Are these displays tested for dead pixels and backlight bleed?
Yes. Every CID we list is powered up, walked through the iDrive menu cycle, and inspected for dead pixels, backlight bleed, and ribbon-cable artifacts at full and minimum brightness. Anything off-spec is graded down with photos of the defect.
Why does my CID screen show "No Signal" after installation?
The LVDS cable between head unit and display has a tight pin alignment — bent pins are the most common cause. Other culprits: power-management module sleep cycle not refreshed (drive 10 minutes), or a CID with a different revision the head unit doesn't recognize. Coding can usually resolve the latter.
What do your condition grades mean?
Grade A — fully functional, light wear consistent with age, sold ready to install. Grade B — functional with cosmetic blemishes or replaced consumables noted in the listing. Grade C — functional core with significant wear; pictured as-is, suited for rebuilds. We test every electronic and powered part before listing.
What if the part doesn't fit my BMW?
Every listing ships with eBay's Money Back Guarantee. If a part arrives that doesn't match its stated fitment, you're covered by eBay for a full refund — return shipping included. Confirm your OEM part number against the listing before ordering to avoid the round trip.
