Buying guide
About used BMW cameras
BMW driver-assistance cameras include forward-facing lane-departure cameras (windshield-mounted), rear-view cameras (trunk-handle or tailgate), and the surround-view 4-camera systems with one camera per fender mirror plus front grille and rear. Each is chassis-specific and trim-specific — matching the BMW part number to your build sheet is non-negotiable.
Calibration is required after most camera replacements. BMW recommends ISTA static or dynamic calibration with the proper targets. Skipping it produces "Driver Assistance Limited" warnings that won't clear on their own. Most BMW indies can handle calibration in 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on system.
Every camera in our catalog has been bench-powered for a function check before listing. Hardware revision (HW2, HW3) is called out where visible — important if you're replacing a specific module already coded for your VIN.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions about used BMW cameras
- Do these cameras require coding when installed?
- Most BMW cameras are part-number-specific to your chassis and trim — when matched correctly, they're plug-and-play. Replacement cameras with a different hardware revision (HW2 vs HW3) may require coding the camera variant in the head unit. Listings call out the exact HW revision.
- What about lane-departure or surround-view system calibration?
- After replacement, BMW recommends a static or dynamic calibration with ISTA. Most independent shops can perform this in 30 minutes. For surround-view cameras (4-camera systems), expect a 1–2 hour calibration drive with the targets BMW supplies. Skipping calibration usually produces a "Driver Assistance Limited" warning.
- Will a rear-view camera from a higher trim work in my base car?
- Only if your car has the harness and a head unit that supports the rear-camera input (CIC with the SA 6XL option, NBT with SA 3AG, or NBT EVO with 5DN). Pre-LCI base cars often lack the harness behind the trunk handle entirely. Check your build sheet before buying.
- What do your condition grades mean?
- Grade A — fully functional, light wear consistent with age, sold ready to install. Grade B — functional with cosmetic blemishes or replaced consumables noted in the listing. Grade C — functional core with significant wear; pictured as-is, suited for rebuilds. We test every electronic and powered part before listing.
- What if the part doesn't fit my BMW?
- Every listing ships with eBay's Money Back Guarantee. If a part arrives that doesn't match its stated fitment, you're covered by eBay for a full refund — return shipping included. Confirm your OEM part number against the listing before ordering to avoid the round trip.
